What do you want to know about Mrs. Hershey?
Welcome to Mrs. Hershey's page.
I am a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education, having taught in Illinois, Arizona and presently Wisconsin. In the public schools I have taught orchestra, band and general music. I have also taught private lessons on violin, viola, cello, bass, and piano.
I believe that all students can learn to play a string instrument. I do my best to teach the whole child, not just teaching children how to play the violin, viola, cello or bass. Music is truly a universal language that everyone should have an opportunity to enjoy!!
When I was hired in the fall of 2009 to teach the after school orchestra program in McFarland I was excited . The program had started the previous fall and was bound to grow strong! Just look at where the program is now! It was very exciting when the orchestra program moved into the school day in the fall of 2010 and into the High School in the fall of 2012.
I grew up in Illinois where I played the violin in 3rd - 12th grade in the public school orchestra and then learned the viola and cello in college. From Elementary School through High School I played the oboe(5th grade) and bassoon(6th - 10th grade), sang in school and church choir, and took piano lessons(4th - 12th grade). I not only participated in music, but also played soccer and met my husband on the high school track. Can you believe that I ran hurdles? In 2012 I started running again and have participated in many 5K runs, a couple of 10K's and half marathons and have had a lot of fun. I recently bought a bike and am trying that too. We have two boys who are very important to us. Our oldest is married and lives in Washington State and our youngest is living nearby. I enjoy spending time with my husband, learning to dance, going to athletic and music events, scrap booking, watching movies, reading, kayaking/running/biking. Ask me where I have traveled with my family! I also enjoy spending time with my cats, Mo and MIssy! (I'm not sure how we ended up with M&M's in the Hershey house.) Currently I teach orchestra in McFarland and also teach a handful of private students. And yes, I do love chocolate!!
Have a great day!!
